Segmented turning

How would you like to turn one of these? Come and take a class on how to do this. You will learn a lot about turning and how to assemble all 97 pieces for each turning. We will start with the one on the right for the first class. In the future we will offer more advanced class in this.
You must have taken spindle turning, face plate turning and bowl turning to take this class. These class are listed in turning class list.
Segmented turning is a 12 hour class.

Everyone must prepay as we have to buy supplies for each student.

We will also be offering a class on how to make the sled for the segmented turning for those that will be going home and trying this out. this class is 3 hours long. bring a lunch and plan on having something to do as we have to let the glue dry for 2 hours before moving on.

Skills Classes

In the skills classes we focus in on one particular topic. This class is more lecture than hands on. We spend about 3 hours in each class. You might think that one could not talk about one topic for this amount of time but some of the class have run over the 3 hour time. The price will also fit any budget. Each class is $35.00 but if you sign-up for 4 class it is 10% off, all 7 classes and it is 20% off.

Intro. to Carving

In this class you will learn 3 types of carving:
Chip Carving: has a long history of being a decorative art form
Lettering: has been used since the beginning of the written word
Architectural Carving: has been adorning many items for thousands of years

We will teach you the beginnings of all 3 types, and spend about 3 hours on each
style with both lecture and hands-on work.

July 17th. Joint Decisions Saturday. 1 - 4:00 pm $35 What are the best joints for building a box? A table? A picture frame? How deep/wide should a mortise be? Once you understand some concepts of basic joinery, everything from racking forces to glue faces, butt joints to biscuits, you'll begin to make good decisions on how your project will go together.
